BUCKS COUNTY – July 16, 2026 −  Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10) along with Representative Perry Warren (D-31) announced today $1,000,000 in state funding for Friends Village in Newtown, PA.

This grant will be used by Friends Village to address urgent building envelope and infrastructure needs at its Styer Campus, constructed in 1980 and home to older adults of modest income. RACP funding will encompass repairs to walls and siding installation, replacement of aging roofs, stormwater management improvements, HVAC equipment upgrades, and fire suppression system installation.

“This funding will help ensure that older adults at Friends Village can continue to live in safe, comfortable, and dignified homes,” Santarsiero said. “Investing in the safety of residents, improving energy efficiency, and preserving affordable housing for seniors is a truly worthwhile use of state funds.”

“Ensuring safe, accessible and affordable senior living is a challenge of the present – and the future,” said Representative Warren. “This capital grant will help meet that challenge locally, while also providing well-paying construction jobs in the community.”

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. Local investment is required to receive an RACP grant.

Additional information about RACP can be found on the Office of the Budget website.
