BUCKS COUNTY – September 15, 2026 – Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10) along with Representative Shelby Labs (D-31) announced today $350,000 in state funding:
- $150,000 for the Central Bucks Athletic Association for new Basketball Courts
- $200,000 for the Plumstead Volunteer Fire Company for radios
The Central Bucks Athletic Association is receiving funds to replace three basketball courts located in Plumstead Township. The courts have become severely worn over time and are currently crumbling, making them unsafe for play. These courts serve approximately 1,200 kids from the local community during a typical summer. This project includes the removal of the current blacktop, drainage improvements and associated site work, new blacktop, painted lines for three courts, and fencing with gates around the courts.
“These basketball courts give hundreds of local kids a place to play, stay active and build friendships every summer,” said Senator Santarsiero. “After years of use, this investment will give the community a new, durable place to play. Providing safe, accessible places for young people to be active is an important part of building a healthier community, and I’m proud to support a project that will benefit local families for years to come.”
The Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company is receiving funds for the purchase of new radios. The station’s current radios are no longer supported by Motorola and do not fully comply with the newest regulations. These new radios will feature stronger signal reception, noise cancellation, GPS location tracking, and better battery life. Additionally, these new radios can be better integrated with EMS, police, and county communications. Overall, these radios will enhance operational effectiveness and firefighter safety.
“Our volunteer firefighters put themselves on the line to protect our community and they need reliable equipment to do their job safely,” said Senator Santarsiero. “These new radios will provide better communication and improved coordination with EMS, police, and county responders, giving Plumsteadville’s firefighters the tools they need to protect themselves and their neighbors.”
“Reliable communication can make a critical difference when our firefighters are responding to an emergency, and replacing this aging radio equipment is an important investment in their safety and ability to serve our community,” said Representative Labs. “This funding will also provide much needed updates and repairs to several basketball courts providing local families a safe place to play.”
