SUMMARY:Policy Hearing: #ItsOnUs: Combatting Sexual Assault on Campus
DESCRIPTION:On April 7th\, 2022\, Senators Muth\, Cappelletti\, Schwank\, Collett\, Hughes\, and Santarsiero will host a hearing on the movement against sexual assault on college campus and the Governor’s It’s On Us package of bills designed to address this issue. \nThe It’s On Us campaign is a national initiative started by the Obama Administration to raise awareness about sexual assault; teaching participants that assault includes non-consensual sex\, advising them on how to identify dangerous situations\, empowering them to intervene\, and urging them to create an environment of support for victims and survivors.  \nThis hearing is meant to highlight the need for Pennsylvania to pass the “It’s On Us” legislative package\, which consist of four bills that are the next steps to preventing assault on campus and ensuring victims get the help they deserve. If passed\, the senate package\, which includes SB 730\, SB 909\, and SB 785\, will enact a ‘yes means yes’ law\, will strengthen protections for victims of on-campus crime\, and will teach middle and high school students to know and prevent dating violence\, sexual assault\, sexual harassment and stalking. Additionally\, SR 122\, included in the package\, creates a task force to study sexual assault\, dating violence\, domestic violence and stalking. DESCRIPTION:Senator Steve Santarsiero  along with Representative Wendy Ullman present a FREE CONTACTLESS Shredding Event and Food Drive. \nThe event\, which features an on-site industrial paper shredder\, will take place on Saturday\, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.\, at Groveland Elementary School 1100 N. Easton Road in Doylestown.  \nPaper clips and staples do not need to be removed. Remove large black clips and three-ring binders. We do not shred phone books\, books\, newspapers or non-paper items. Individuals are limited to three file boxes or copy paper boxes of paper for shredding.
