Update from Harrisburg
Perkasie Legislative Breakfast
|
Senator Santarsiero speaking with residents at the legislative breakfast |
It was a packed house at my legislative breakfast at Pennridge Community Center in Perkasie. It was great to hear from the nearly 100 constituents who showed up to discuss important topics such as election reform, property taxes and how they relate to our education system, common sense gun safety measures, investments in infrastructure, and health and safety concerns surrounding Rockhill Quarry in East Rockhill. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Pennridge Community Center for providing the venue for our discussion.
Affordable Care Act Enrollment Events in Sellersville and Tullytown

Thank you to everyone who came out to my Affordable Care Act (ACA) Enrollment Events at Tullytown Borough Hall and Sellersville Borough Hall. Residents were able to meet with navigators who specialize in helping people select the best plan for them.
A special thank you goes out to Grand View Health, Lower Bucks Hospital, and Rite Aid for providing flu shots, blood pressure screenings, and balance tests, as well as to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness, and Oscar Health for providing residents guidance throughout the event.
I joined Senators Pam Iovino (D-37), Vincent Hughes (D-7), and Michele Brooks (R-50) in introducing multiple pieces of legislation which seek to protect the healthcare rights of Pennsylvanians in the event the ACA is overturned through judicial actions at the federal level.
The legislation introduced would allow young adults in Pennsylvania to stay on their parents’ health insurance until age 26, prohibit health insurance policies sold or renewed within the Commonwealth from imposing either annual or lifetime limits, protect coverage for individuals with pre-existing conditions, and would establish the ten essential health benefits (EHB) covered by the ACA as part of Pennsylvania law.

$250,000 Grant for Blue Ridge Wood Products
I am happy to announce, along with my colleague in the state House, Rep. John Galloway, the award of $249,420 to Blue Ridge Wood Products through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The funds will be used to rehabilitate 700 feet of existing track in Fairless Hills, to improve the efficiency of Blue Ridge Wood Product’s inbound railcar unloading operations.
Investments in infrastructure are crucial to ensuring a thriving economy here in Bucks County and across the Commonwealth.

Visiting Dublin IGA
|
Senator Santarsiero with Dublin IGA owner Mike Flagello |
Thank you to Mike Flagello of Dublin IGA for taking the time to show me around his store. Mike has owned this local market for almost 40 years and continues to offer that level of personalized customer service that only comes from a true community-driven establishment. Stop on in and say hello to Mike, see if you can find the Elf on the Shelf, and grab something fresh from the deli.
Pack 230 Visits the District Office
|
Senator Santarsiero with Pack 230 Arrow of Light from St. Ignatius Parish in Yardley |
I had the pleasure of meeting Jack, Vincent, Joseph, and Lucas, cub scouts from Pack 230 Arrow of Light out of St. Ignatius Parish in Yardley, and sharing a bit about my role as a state senator for their new adventure, Building a Better World. They had some great questions for me:
- -What are the biggest environmental issues I’m working to address?
- How do I work respectfully with people whose opinions don’t match my own?
- Where’s the best pizza in Lower Makefield?
Thank you to the scouts and their den mother, Susan, for including me in this project.
BCIU Telepresence Grant
I am proud to announce the award of $28,197 in state funding to Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22 through the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) Keystone Telepresence Education Grant program for equipment and services to help educate students who are homebound for extended periods due to serious medical conditions. With this equipment, teachers at Bucks County Intermediate Unit can better connect with students eager to learn and reach their full potential.
