Update from Harrisburg

Protecting our Constitutional Right to Clean Air and Water

Senator Maria Collett (D-12) and I are introducing legislation that will provide the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office with a greater ability to prosecute those who commit crimes against the environment.

As the former Chief Deputy Attorney General for Environmental Protection in Pennsylvania, I have firsthand experience with this issue. Right now, the Attorney General’s office needs to obtain a referral from a DA or other agency before it can prosecute these cases. Our legislation would eliminate that step.

Rebuilding our Schools with PlanCon

Pennwood Middle School i
When a school district undertakes a major school construction project and seeks reimbursement from the Commonwealth, PlanCon is initiated. Pennwood Middle School is an example of a local school that received PlanCon funding.

I am excited to be a co-sponsor Senator Browne’s SB 700, which would establish a grant program for ongoing school maintenance projects.

Prior to joining the Senate, I introduced legislation as a state representative to address the serious lack of funding for school infrastructure projects across the Commonwealth. I wholeheartedly support SB 700 because I know our schools will benefit from these vitally important building improvements.

I had a fantastic time visiting the teachers and 4th grade students at Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School as part of their Spirit Week celebration. We had a lot of fun learning about the Pennsylvania House and Senate, and even “passed” a new bill!

Unclaimed Property AnnouncementMoney Hand

The Pennsylvania State Treasurer’s office is required to advertise the names and addresses of unclaimed property owners each year. These ads must appear in a general circulation newspaper in the owner’s last known county of residence. This week, advertisements will appear in the Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer.

Please keep in mind that the treasurer’s office is only required to advertise property that is valued in excess of $250. The names appear in the paper only once, so we also encourage everyone to search the Treasury’s Unclaimed Property database at www.patreasury.gov, or call the Unclaimed Property call center at 1-800-222-2046.
